Our story
From the moment founder Daniel Jansen understood what the ‘lazy eye’ diagnosis of his daughter precisely entailed, he became excessively fascinated by the special neurological aspects of the condition. Only the way amblyopia has been treated so far was less to his liking.
In conversations with his friends Teun Aalbers and Joël Wijngaarde, respectively the founder of game developer Gainplay Studio and software company Us Media, he got the idea to train the lazy eye using special games.
To further develop that idea as a treatment method, the three then founded Vedea Healthware together. Shortly thereafter, essential collaboration was sought with scientists, doctors, and institutions, such as the Eye Hospital Rotterdam and the associated Rotterdam Eye Institute.
This group of people, each a specialist in their field, is passionately committed to making the Vedea approach a successful method so that amblyopia can henceforth be treated in a child-friendly manner.
